We analyze the photo-excitation of atoms with a single valence electron by cylindrically polarized Laguerre-Gaussian beams. Theoretical analysis is performed within framework first-order perturbation theory and expanding vector potential beam in terms its multipole components. For beams, we show that (magnetic) sub-components electric-quadrupole field vary significantly cross-section waist radial distance from axis. discuss influence varying magnetic component on sub-level population localized atomic target.
